Understanding Insurance Coverage for Your Functional Medicine Visit:

Our functional medicine consultations follow a similar billing process as seeing an acupuncturist (Dr Diego Rutenberg holds an acupuncture physician license in the state of Florida).  However, it’s important to understand that these services typically fall under out-of-network coverage with most insurance plans.

What Does “Out-of-Network” Mean?

In-network providers have pre-negotiated rates with your insurance company. This means your insurance might cover a portion of the visit cost after you meet your deductible.

Out-of-network providers haven’t negotiated rates. You’ll likely be responsible for a larger portion of the visit cost, potentially the entire amount upfront.

Here’s How We Can Help You Navigate Coverage:

We recommend contacting your insurance provider directly. They can explain your specific out-of-network benefits for acupuncture or similar services. This will help you estimate potential out-of-pocket expenses.

We can provide a “superbill” upon request. This document details the services provided during your consultation. You can submit this to your insurance for possible reimbursement, depending on your plan.

Additional Considerations:

Some insurance plans offer wellness benefits that might cover certain functional medicine services. Ask your provider about these options.

We strive to be transparent about our fees. We’ll discuss them before your consultation so you can make informed decisions about your care.

By working together, we can help you understand your coverage and maximize any potential benefits for your functional medicine journey.

Remember, even if insurance coverage is limited, functional medicine can offer valuable insights into your overall health. We can discuss personalized treatment plans that fit your needs and budget.
